Summary:
The Fort Albany First Nation Band Representatives, in collaboration with the Prevention/Intervention Department, are committed to ensuring that the best interests of children who are involved with, or at risk of becoming involved with, Child Welfare services are prioritized and protected.
The Human Resources Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Human Resources, including recruitment, retention, benefits administration, complaint resolution, health, and safety, as well as the development and alignment of policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee the recruitment and hiring process, including creating job descriptions, advertising vacancies, and conducting interviews.
· Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
· Train and support HR staff members to ensure they are equipped to manage their job responsibilities effectively.
· Manage employee relations issues, including resolving conflicts, addressing complaints, and providing guidance on disciplinary actions.
· Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees, as well as develop and implement performance improvement plans as needed.
· Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations.
· Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement company-wide initiatives related to employee engagement, retention, and development.
· Provide guidance and support to managers and supervisors on employee-related issues, including coaching on effective communication and leadership skills.
Requirements:
· Diploma or bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field
· At least 5 years of experience in Human Resources
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to lead and manage a team.
· Knowledge of HR laws and regulations
· Experience in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
· Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office
· Ability to work in a challenging environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
· Ability to speak Omushkegowuk Cree as an asset.
· A valid Driver’s licence
