POSITION SUMMARY

Omushkego Education is seeking a compassionate and culturally grounded Early Years Primary Lead to support learning and development in kindergarten to grade 3. This role focuses on Cree language integration, cultural identity, and inclusive approaches for children with diverse learning needs -especially those with autism.

 

REQUIREMENTS

·         Experience working with young children (ages 4-9) in early learning or primary settings

·         Strong understanding of Cree culture, values, and language; ability to speak or use Cree in classroom settings is a strong asset

·         Knowledge of development and early learning, including play-based and land-based learning

·         Experience working with children with special needs, specifically those with autism

·         Familiarity with trauma-informed, strength-based, and inclusive practices

·         Ability to work respectfully with Elders, families, and community members in education settings

·         Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma, Indigenous Early Learning training, or equivalent experience is considered an asset

·         A genuine love for working with children and helping them grow through culture, language, and care

·         Cree language speaker or learner with a commitment to language revitalization

·         Experience in a First Nations school or early learning environment

·         Knowledge of individualized learning supports and inclusive education plans (IEP’s)

·         Training or background in Indigenous early childhood education frameworks
